So, I have been passionate about squirrels since I shot my first one 20+ yrs ago. How do I join this elite society? And how does one score a buck squirrel?

Big Ric is right about who has to score the squirrels. I handle that part. But joining is easy. All you have to do is repeat the QSMA pledge in the presence of a QSMA officer. I'll include the pledge here in case you haven't already memorized it.

I pledge allegiance to the QSMA

and our leader BULLIE.

He taught us not to shoot every squirrel

that's little butt is wooly.

If I shoot every squirrel I see

as a hunter I am lesser.

I must let the little squirrels walk

to earn my B&Ser!!!

I might want to become a member if you don't mind me head shooting all the squirrels with a single shot .22 using 29 grain subsonic ammo. I know most of you need to use a shotgun shell full of high powered lead pellets in order to have a chance at hitting a squirrel, but I only need just one small piece of lead to take care of business. :D

Meanwhile, Bullie would you Age and Score this squirrel for me please.

Assuming the branch the squirrel is sitting on is 2 inches in diameter I would say it may very well be the smallest squirrel I have ever seen. These lilliputian squirrels, while interesting, are much too small to be scored for record book entry.

Most of the QSMA membership uses .22 rifles thought not the subsonic ammo as it is a bit more expensive. We like the great big bulk box ammo from Wallyworld.

Since I only need one shot per squirrel, the extra couple of cents for a bullet is within even my measley income.

The branch is about 6 inches in diameter but what caught my eye is the long tail on this acorn eater.

Ok.. That is good information. I will, of course, need pictures from several different angles with a very accurate ruler or other measuring device in the picture to give some more scale. But, in way of a guess I would put this particular squirrel at about .95 B&S points.

Make sure they know the pledge PERFECTLY!!!!! And make sure they have that little reverent tone in their voice that I like so much when they say, "And our leader Bullie". And don't accept ANY CHECKS for QSMA dues!!!!!! Get cash!!!

If The Paterfamilias of Modern Squirrel Hunting.
group was hooked up with some top notch
organization such as A Hunt Above, I'd consider
joining and contributing ...

As a matter of fact, the QSMA has sponsored and/or co-sponsored a couple of A Hunt Above benefits. One of those chubby QSMA guys really likes to cook and looks for every opportunity to help out.
